Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026
NewTurn is an accounting and finance careers platform serving Sri Lanka and the Gulf Countries. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, mobile applications and related services.
1. Information we collect
Registration details. First and last name, email address, mobile number, password (stored only in hashed form), country and district or city, and your acceptance of our terms.
Job seeker profile and CV. Qualifications and professional memberships, work experience, education, skills, salary expectations, preferred locations and any CV or supporting document you upload.
Application activity. The vacancies you apply for, saved jobs, cover notes and the status of each application.
Employer and company information. Company name, registration details, contact person, contact email and phone, company profile content, and documents submitted for employer verification.
Enquiries. The name, email address and message you send through our contact form or by email.
Technical information. Basic log and device data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, used for security, abuse prevention and service improvement.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
- To let you search and save vacancies, submit applications and share your profile and CV with the employers whose roles you apply for.
- To let employers publish vacancies, manage applicants and complete employer verification.
- To send service messages such as confirmation and password reset emails, application updates and, where you have opted in, job alerts.
- To review job postings for quality and legal compliance, prevent fraud, and keep the Platform secure.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide support.
3. When we share information
- With employers. When you apply for a vacancy, the employer receives your profile details and CV so they can assess your application. We do not sell candidate data, and we do not share your CV with employers you have not applied to.
- Publicly. Published vacancies, company names and verification badges are publicly visible. Your job seeker profile and CV are not public.
- Service providers. Trusted providers who host our database and file storage, deliver our email, and operate our infrastructure, acting only on our instructions.
- Legal reasons. Where disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of our users.
4. WhatsApp community and social channels
We distribute published vacancies through our WhatsApp community and social media channels. Those channels carry job listing information only — never job seeker profiles, CVs or application details. Joining a WhatsApp group means your phone number and display name are visible to other members of that group, and the group is also subject to WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
5. Storage, security and international transfer
Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security so that each account can reach only its own records. Uploaded CVs are held in restricted storage. Because we serve Sri Lanka and the Gulf Countries, information may be processed on servers outside your country and shared with employers located abroad when you apply to an overseas role. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and browser storage that are necessary for the Platform to work — principally to keep you signed in and to maintain your session securely. We do not use them to build advertising profiles. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in.
7. How long we keep information
Account, profile and CV data is kept while your account is active. Application records are retained so both you and the employer have a history of the process. Enquiry messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the matter and for our records. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data except where we must keep records for legal, accounting or fraud-prevention reasons.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access and update your profile, CV and contact details at any time from your dashboard.
- Withdraw an application or remove a saved job.
- Unsubscribe from job alerts and marketing emails using the link in those emails; essential service emails will continue while your account is open.
- Request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account by contacting us at the address below.
9. Children
The Platform is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we will remove the account.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Platform develops. The current version is always published on this page with the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Platform or notified by email.
11. Contact us
For privacy questions or to exercise any of the rights above, contact us at hello@newturn.lk or +94 773272499. See also our Terms & Conditions and contact page.
